Welcome to Evolving Audio!

February 10th, 2009 energi

Evolving audio explores the use of sound to help one get through their day and improve their life.  Those who listen and those who create are equally welcomed here.  There are audio technologies that utilize words and sounds that cannot be considered music.  We will mention any of these that we feel might benefit you.

We are mostly interested in instrumental music as it can reach a greater cross-section of people.  Some may like death metal, and such active music has been found to be beneficial (Mythbusters) but not everyone can mentally allow themselves to hear the words normally growled in that genre.

Some want to know what is being said, and have to pay attention to the wording, but as part of evolving, we are wanting to let go of what someone else felt while creating the music and allow the music to have a more fundamental effect.

There is nothing to insult your moral senses when listening to purely instrumental pieces.  There is nothing inherently wrong about drums, guitars, various tones, keyboards, bells, or samples of drills.  Here you can allow yourself to relax into the music, and experience feeling without being bombarded by someone else’s thoughts.

This is like massage for the psyche.  Some sounds may be uncomfortable.  Work through your discomfort, re-listen until you can come to terms with why the sound bothers you or you may notice it suddenly no longer irritates you.

Classical instrumentals are easily found elsewhere and as such are not our focus here.  Our focus is on music that is more out of the common comfort level and is not typically instrumental.  We will focus on industrial, metal, death metal, death pop, industrial metal, although we also plan to showcase a few ambient and odd styles.

I, Alice am a fan of “melodic industrial” and “death pop”, but I want to know what is being said.  I would prefer for there not to be words, since I tend to disagree with the words I do hear.  I don’t like showing loyalty to a concept by enjoying the music that happens to carry the concept.

Please act with respect while you are here.  Thank you.

Alice Norris
